Senator Dr. Shehzad Waseem apprises Senate on govt’s measures about COVID-19 PTI leader says PM Imran Khan led the campaign against coronavirus, took nation in confidence.

ISLAMABAD, May 14 (PR): Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Senator Dr. Shehzad Waseem on Thursday apprised the Upper House of the Parliament about the measures taken by the government to tackle the deadly coronavirus.

Speaking in the Senate, Senator Dr. Shehzad Waseem said that Prime Minister Imran Khan from very first day led the campaign against coronavirus, took the nation in confidence and talked to international community for seeking their cooperation to tackle the COVID-19 and the economic disruption caused due to it.

He said that those blaming government should admit the fact that PM Imran Khan instead of verbal pledges institutionalized the decisions and not let it for single person to announce verdicts.

The PTI leader that COVID-19 is global issue and entire world community taking steps to tackle it but no one has completely succeeded to develop ‘Simple Straightforward Strategy’ against it so far.

He said not PTI but Opposition parties are doing politics on coronavirus issue. He said that the Opposition while sitting in the House assured the government of jointly making efforts against the killer but when they leave the House start alleging PTI of doing politics over the issue.

Senator Dr. Shehzad Waseem said that all the stakeholders especially the provinces were given due representation in the institutions constituted to make decisions as how to deal the coronavirus pandemic and how to cover the economic losses rendered by it.

He said that opposition leaders should take the coronavirus issue serious and avoid politicizing the issue for their political and ulterior motives.

Dr. Shehzad Waseem urged all segments of the society especially the privileged class should take care of the deprived sections of the society and donate generously for them on the occasion of Eid ul Fitar.
